Hörmann - Investing for the future

Additional production and storage capacity are currently being added to four German plants at Amshausen, Brandis, Dissen and Ichtershausen, that manufacture and supply entrance doors, garage doors and industrial roller shutters for the UK market. This additional capacity will result in increased production volumes, manufactured efficiently to the highest quality standards and ensure that delivery times are maintained and improved.

Work is also underway at the company’s Coalville facility to re-organise and develop the warehouse facilities. The assembly and modified production areas have been expanded to take account of increased demand and have been relocated to help improve the workflow of the storage and despatch areas. New racking systems and investment in IT have led to increased storage capacity and improved the efficiency of both the goods inward and despatch functions.

The announcement of the acquisition of the Fen-Bay Group early in the year is also a further indicator of Hörmann’s commitment to invest in the UK market. Well known and established within the market, Fen-Bay are a leading product and service provider for the loading bay sector, with the group also including Doncaster based Transdek UK who specialise in the design and manufacture of specialist modular loading bay equipment. The acquisition adds the Hörmann’s product portfolio, alongside boosting its service and maintenance provision, enabling them to offer the market a full, national call-out service with a team of over 100 service engineers which provides 24/7, 365 days a-year availability.

Wolfgang Gorner, Managing Director of Hörmann UK comments, “Even though the Hörmann Group is a large, multinational organisation, it is still privately owned and run by the third and fourth generations of the Hörmann family. As a family they have always taken a long-term view of the business and their role in ensuring that successive generations hand over a financially and ethically sound business. This is reflected in their view of the market and their continued investment in the future even when we are all faced with some pretty challenging economic and supply chain issues. The investments that are currently underway in both Germany and the UK are aimed at strengthening our position in the market and making sure that we continue to offer our customers and clients the very highest standards both in product quality, delivery, and the services that we provide.”
