Overview of dock shelters
Ideal solutions for every location
Hörmann offers a wide range of options, including flap, inflatable and cushion dock shelters: There are different models in each category, so you can find the ideal solution for all loading situations. All dock shelters are manufactured in-house. This ensures reliable quality and durability, enabling us to offer you special solutions.
Flap dock shelter
Hörmann flap dock shelter consist of robust top and side flaps that are mounted on a galvanised, compressible frame. They are flexible yet stable, and can adapt to vehicles of different sizes. This makes them ideal for loading sites where lorries of various heights and widths are loaded and unloaded. Hörmann flap dock shelter are particularly durable and are the most commonly used type of dock shelter.
- Flexible frame connection as a link arm or scissors arm
- Optional: top flap with side cut, edge or full section
- Optional: electric rolling flap for sealing smaller docking vehicles
- Long-lasting and durable
- Optional corner cushions for even better sealing between wall connection and flap

Inflatable dock shelters
Inflatable dock shelters are the ideal solution when a tight seal is required for a door opening. This makes them ideal for cold stores and temperature-controlled storage areas. The lorry docks without the air cushions coming into contact with the vehicle. Instead, they are filled by a fan afterwards. This increases their service life, and the door seal automatically adapts to different vehicle dimensions. Inflatable dock shelters are particularly well suited for use in DOBO systems (docking before opening) because they do not prevent vehicle doors from being opened after docking.
- Frame construction made of insulated steel panels
- Excellent sealing
- Ideal for DOBO systems
- Optionally available with electrical roll-up flap instead of top cushion for greater flexibility
- Available as a dock or roadway model, in recess version or for loading houses
Cushion dock seals
Cushion dock seals are an excellent choice when vehicles with very similar dimensions dock at the loading site. They can be tailor-made to suit the vehicle fleet in use. The Hörmann BBS2 cushion dock seal is ideal for docking different types of delivery vans: thanks to flexible side cushions and an adjustable top cushion, it adapts effortlessly to all common vehicle heights and contours.
The following applies to all cushion dock seals: they create a very tight seal, closing not only the gap between the rear of the lorry and the building, but also the air gap between the lorry and the open doors. The cushions are filled with PU foam. Together with the sturdy base frame and a casing made of fabric-reinforced plastic flaps, they form a durable unit.
- Particularly good sealing
- Also suitable for cold stores and air-conditioned storage areas
- With fixed side and top cushions and optional additional top flap or – particularly adaptable – with flexible side cushions and adjustable top cushion (BBS2)
Solutions for special requirements
Perfectly matched to your application area
- Solutions for maximum flexibility: The no-linkage flap dock shelter DDF 10 is particularly robust and flexible for use with different vehicle sizes. Its foam-filled side cushions are compressed or deflected to the side in the event of inaccurate docking. The movable top part can move upwards when a docked vehicle is pumped up.
- Solutions for hanging goods: The dock seal DAK 3 is ideal for goods transported in a hanging position. It features fixed side cushions and an inflatable top cushion. This leaves the loading opening at the top free, allowing goods to be transferred directly onto conveyor systems.

Our tip for ensuring the dock seals have a particularly long service life:
- Ensure accurate vehicle positioning – careful, centred docking helps reduce wear and damage. Wheel guides can provide valuable assistance and improve docking accuracy.
- Choose the right dock seal for the application – inflatable dock seals, such as the DAS3, only make contact with the vehicle after docking, significantly reducing wear. The DDF10 dock shelter is also designed to minimise the risk of accidental damage.
- Maintain regular cleaning routines – Keeping curtains and sealing elements clean helps maintain performance and can extend the service life of the dock shelter.
