Buffers
Protection for buildings and vehicles
Dock buffers play a vital role in protecting both buildings and vehicles during the docking process. Available in a range of materials, including rubber, polyurethane (PU) and steel, and in fixed or spring-loaded designs, they absorb impact forces and help prevent damage caused by vehicle movements at the loading bay. Adjustable mounting brackets allow the buffer position to be adapted to suit different loading bay configurations and vehicle types, ensuring optimum protection and performance. With a comprehensive range of solutions available, Hörmann can provide the ideal dock buffer for virtually any application, helping to improve safety, reduce maintenance costs and extend the lifespan of loading bay equipment.
- Buffers made of rubber, PU or steel: In order for buffers to reliably protect buildings, they must be precisely adapted to the structural conditions and vehicle types. Hörmann offers a wide range of products for this purpose. Ideal choice for high docking frequency: the steel buffers SB15 and SB20.
- Flexible buffers: They adapt to the movements of the lorry during loading and unloading and compensate for the differences in loading surface height caused by the weight of the freight. This minimises wear.
- Movable, lockable buffers: The buffers VBV4 and VBV5 are the right choice if different positions are required at the same location, for example with the DOBO system. After docking, they can be pressed down and locked in place with your foot so that the lorry doors can be opened.

Docking assistant
Docking made easy
It is not easy to manoeuvre an articulated lorry, which is more than 18 metres long, into a loading site. This can quickly result in serious damage to buildings. Hörmann docking assistance systems provide effective protection against this. They use warning lights to guide the driver safely to the ramp, enabling them to reduce their approach speed in a timely and targeted manner. When combined with Hörmann controls for doors, dock levellers and wheel-blocking systems, interactive functions can be implemented.
- Docking assistance DAP: The docking assistance system DAP uses a photocell to detect the distance to the vehicle. If the system is equipped with two photocells, it signals the docking status via an external light. An optional internal light indicates when the door can be opened. The driver receives a green signal as soon as it is safe to leave the ramp.
- Docking Assistant HDA-Pro: With this docking assistance system, the door leaf is equipped with sensors that detect the rear of the lorry. It is used exclusively with the DOBO system.

Wheel blocking
Safety for people and equipment
If a lorry rolls away or moves forward slightly during loading, the lip of the dock leveller will no longer rest securely on the vehicle’s loading surface. In the worst case, this could result in serious injury or significant property damage. This risk is always present when loading with industrial lorries due to their braking and acceleration, and the transport vehicle’s brakes are not sufficient to secure the load. Our wheel-blocking systems provide reliable protection against such accidents.
- Wheel-blocking system AWB: The automatic wheel-blocking system AWB is intuitive to use, suitable for all common lorry types and can be activated at the touch of a button from inside the building. The driver does not have to leave the vehicle. The blocking arm automatically moves into the correct position and presses against the wheel of the lorry – the vehicle can no longer roll away uncontrollably. A warning light is used to communicate with the driver.
- Wheel-blocking system MWB2: The manual wheel-blocking system MWB2 reliably prevents the lorry from rolling away unintentionally thanks to its sturdy, easy-to-use design with electronic locking and indicator lights for drivers and warehouse personnel. It is suitable for all common lorries, is easy to maintain, saves time and can be used as a stand-alone solution or integrated into existing controls.

Wheel chocks
Simply more security
As simple as it is efficient: wheel chocks are placed behind the lorry tyres to prevent vehicles from rolling away unintentionally. Hörmann offers various versions: Type WR is secured with a chain and is equipped with a wall bracket for storage. The WRH type also has an operating lever for easier handling. The WSPG type offers even greater safety, as this model uses a sensor to visually monitor contact with the tyre and, depending on the situation, issues release commands, status messages or warning signals.
Wheel guides
Well-guided
Manoeuvring guides assist drivers with centred docking at the loading site. Hörmann offers a wide range of products, including steel wheel guides in various sizes and the manoeuvring guide Light Guide. Generally speaking, tall, long wheel guides provide the best possible guidance. However, depending on the local conditions, it may be advisable to use a smaller version. We will be happy to advise you!
Access ramps VR
Meeting you at eye level
Our access ramps can adapt to any situation: they are specially manufactured for the respective location and compensate for height differences and inclines with precision. This avoids the need for costly redesigns of the loading bay. In addition, access ramps prevent the underride guard systems of lorries and trailers from touching the ground.
- Galvanized surface finish for a long service life
- Easy to assemble and dismantle
- Sturdy construction to support the entire weight of the trailer
- For light commercial vehicles from 3,500 kg up to three-axle vehicles weighing up to 44,000 kg
- Integration of Hörmann equipment, e.g. manoeuvring guides
- Customised dimensions
Light signals, lights, anti-collision bollards and collision guards
