Mobile road barrier: OktaBlock
Defense against vehicle impacts from any direction
The OktaBlock mobile vehicle barrier secures access to event venues. One of its key features is the octagonal base plate with a serrated edge. In the event of a vehicle impact, the bollard tips forward, with the serrated base plate wedging itself between the vehicle and the roadway. The resulting braking effect brings the vehicle to a stop within a few meters, rendering it inoperable.
Due to its axially symmetrical geometry, the Hörmann OktaBlock has no predefined impact side and can therefore deflect a vehicle impact from any direction.
The Hörmann OktaBlock is protected by international patents.

The Road Blocker M30 is the ideal solution for secure yet flexible access control. This mobile barrier is built using a practical modular system, allowing individual modules to be flexibly combined as needed. Effective against vehicles breaking through the barrier
The effectiveness of OktaBlock has been proven in several crash tests.
The mobile vehicle barrier meets the crash test standards of the international safety standards BSI PAS68:2013 and IWA-14-1:2013. In the prescribed test, an unmanned truck with a test weight of 7.5 tons and a speed of 50 km/h crashes into a single OktaBlock module. The resulting impact energy is approximately 702,000 joules.
The OktaBlock TR is designed and certified according to the even stricter requirements of the German police's technical guidelines for mobile vehicle barriers. In the test, conducted on a wet road surface, the barrier must withstand an impact from two different angles of 90 and 45 degrees, with a maximum impact energy of up to 986,000 joules in protection class SK1B.
In a configuration of three OktaBlock TR and two DIN SPEC loops, the OktaBlock was also certified according to DIN SPEC 91414-1 and achieved the best results in the impact and displacement test.
Unlike other mobile solutions, all certifications are valid even when using individual modules, eliminating the need to connect multiple modules. This ensures maximum flexibility and unobstructed escape routes without visual obstructions.
The Road Blocker M30: certified mobile access control according to the latest standards
The Road Blocker M30 meets the requirements of IWA 14-1 and DIN SPEC 91414-1, the latest and strictest standard for mobile vehicle barriers. In addition to an impact test, this standard includes a displacement test and a tamper test. Therefore, a 7.5-ton truck traveling at 50 km/h was also crash-tested against the Road Blocker M30 – and was successfully brought to a stop. The additional displacement test achieved an excellent result of only 0.1 meters, while the tamper test resulted in a tamper resistance class of 2 (MK2).

Accessories and extras
A particular advantage of the OktaBlock : The surface of the vehicle barrier can be used for advertising or informational purposes with a wraparound banner. Furthermore, a universal adapter allows the widely used construction site lights familiar from road traffic to be attached to the top of the OktaBlock. This ensures the bollard is clearly visible even at night. Both the universal adapter and the construction site light are available from Hörmann.
Simple logistics
Thanks to a ring eyelet that screws into the bollard head, the OktaBlock can be easily positioned by crane or forklift and set up and taken down without any specialized technical knowledge. Hörmann also offers the hydraulic transport aid OktaMover (shown on the left). This allows for quick and easy placement, even without motorized special vehicles requiring a special driver's license – for example, to quickly create a passage for emergency vehicles. Without a crane, forklift, or the OktaMover, the mobile vehicle barrier cannot be moved or manipulated. Security before or during the event is not necessary. The individual elements can be stored outdoors and transported in a very space-saving manner on standard trucks.
